Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - Roanoke, VA – Today, travel takes you to Roanoke, VA for an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn. Dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 2 - Lancaster, PA – After breakfast, travel continues today to Lancaster, PA. Enjoy a three-night stay at the Holiday Inn Lancaster, a full-service hotel located in downtown Lancaster. Tonight, dinner will be included at a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 3 - Amish Farmlands Tour – Amish Buggy Ride – Lunch at Plain & Fancy Farm Restaurant – NOAH at Sight & Sound Theatre – Grand Smorgasbord Dinner at Hershey Farm – Start the day with a guided Amish Farmlands Tour. Travel deep into the heart of the oldest Amish community in the world where you’ll marvel at some of the most beautiful farmland, you’ll ever set eyes upon. Your local guide will provide narration along the way answering your questions while discussing Amish history and origins, farming practices, and much more. You will also stop at two Artisan shops and meet the Amish artisans in their workshops where they make their merchandise.
Next, enjoy an Amish Buggy Ride through the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County filled with Amish farms and gardens. Experience for yourself a taste of Amish country life with a knowledgeable driver who has lived and walked in the Plain communities.
Then enjoy a Family-Style Amish Lunch at the Plain and Fancy Restaurant. Followed by a matinee performance of NOAH at Sight & Sound Theatre, returning for one season to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. With a catastrophic storm on its way, Noah is given a monumental task: build a boat big enough to save his family from a flood that will cover the entire earth. As Noah endeavors to live faithfully during an increasingly chaotic world, can he trust that God’s promises run deeper than the rising waters around him? After the show, enjoy the Grand Smorgasbord Dinner at Hershey Farm featuring both classic PA Dutch dishes and modern flavors. Be sure to leave room for some of the area’s best desserts. (B, L, D)
Day 4 - Kitchen Kettle Village – Julius Sturgis Bakery Pretzel Making – Mount Hope Wine Tasting – Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre – This morning, enjoy free time at Kitchen Kettle Village. With over 40 specialty shops, restaurants, and plenty of hands-on activities. You will have time for shopping and lunch on your own.
Next, visit the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, founded in 1861, it is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America and the Sturgis Family is the oldest pretzel baking family in America. Learn how Sturgis’ old-fashioned recipes and methods were established and how they’re still used today! You will tour the original pretzel bakery, get a hands-on lesson in pretzel twisting using a playdough mixture, observe the bakers twisting old-fashioned soft pretzels by hand, and shop for delicious treats and souvenirs in the bakery store.
The afternoon will also feature a visit to Mount Hope Estate and Winery for a wine tasting. PA’s original winery, brewery, cidery and distillery is the premiere destination for all who appreciate hand-crafted beverages, food and historic properties.
End the day with dinner and a show at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. The scheduled show is A Chorus Line. Follow a group of Broadway dancers on this heart-pounding, nail-biting, ensemble audition. As the competition heats up, the director asks each performer to share about themselves and what influenced their decision to become dancers. Watch as their individual lives transform them into A Chorus Line! Enjoy dinner before the show. (B, D)
Day 5 - Ft. Chiswell, VA – After breakfast, depart Lancaster and travel today to Ft. Chiswell, VA where you enjoy an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn Ft. Chiswell/Max Meadows, VA. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)
