What to Expect

Seven to ten days before your tour departure, you will receive your final tour information, including your specific departure point & time, rooming list, baggage tag, hotel list with phone numbers and any changes in the itinerary. Call our office immediately if your pick-up point is incorrect or another pick-up point is more convenient.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Departure for the Derby

Your journey with Great American Tours begins in Nashville on May 1st. The bus is scheduled to depart promptly at 5:00 PM. This late-afternoon departure allows you to finish your workday before heading north to Kentucky. Enjoy a relaxing ride as we transit from Nashville to Louisville, arriving in the evening so you can head to your pre-booked hotel.

Day 2: Derby Day (Individual Exploration)

May 2nd is the day of the Kentucky Derby. As this is a transportation-only package, you have the entire day to use your independently purchased tickets to experience Churchill Downs. Whether you are sitting in the grandstands or the infield, you can enjoy the race day festivities knowing your return transportation is already secured for the following morning.

Day 3: Return to Nashville

On May 3rd, after the excitement of the Derby has concluded, it is time to return home. Our motorcoach will depart from Louisville for the return leg of the trip. You can relax and recover from the weekend’s excitement on the smooth ride back to Nashville, where we will conclude our service.
